Heart and Soul Farm was founded in 2015 by Marcia and Brian Voskuil with a simple, heartfelt vision: to create a place where kids could experience the freedom, peace, and connection that come from time spent in the country. What began as a space to explore nature, build confidence, and form meaningful relationships with animals quickly grew into something much deeper.
In 2019, their journey expanded as they opened their home to foster care. Welcoming children with diverse needs and life experiences shaped the heart of Heart and Soul Farm even further. Through these experiences, Marcia and Brian saw firsthand the impact that a safe, nurturing environment—paired with patience, connection, and the healing presence of animals—can have on a child’s life.
In the summer of 2020, Marcia piloted a new group program that focused more on the mental health aspect that these children were struggling to work through. Many of the children in this pilot program were dealing with years full of suppressed fears, emotions and anxieties. Weekly activities, games and one-on-one horse time allowed the children to start to connect with their surroundings on a deeper level as they worked through understanding their emotions and how they could use what they learned to continue on their healing path.
Today, Heart and Soul Farm has evolved into a place not only for children, but also for women and individuals seeking growth, healing, and reconnection. With a focus on life coaching, the farm offers a unique, nature-based approach that blends personal development with the grounding influence of the land and horses. What started as a dream to bring kids to the country has become a mission to support both youth and women in finding strength, clarity, and a true sense of belonging.
"To see how the horses reach and engage with each individual child was a true blessing. It amazes me how they touched the hearts of each of these kids. The fact that the children could just be with the horse and share some secrets that they were keeping in just melted my heart. That is the exact reason I have dreamed of doing this." - Marcia
